Elizabeth Beattie is a Tokyo-based Journalist & Writer
Hi there,
I’m an experienced journalist and writer living in Tokyo. At present I’m on staff at The Japan Times, where I’ve reported from G7 summits, interviewed ambassadors and executives and cycled around the city in the early hours to profile Tokyo’s nighttime economy.
Outside of work, I write the newsletter Field Notes.
Prior to Japan, I lived and worked in Australia and Hong Kong, covering everything from geopolitical dynamics to design in Asia. My reporting has taken me from South Korea to Vietnam.
The bulk of my experience has come from reporting for magazines and newspapers, but at times I’ve acted as a broadcast correspondent for Radio New Zealand, CBC, RTÉ and BBC.
I also have experience writing white papers, providing analysis on regulatory and market developments, chairing panels and presenting awards.
